Certified Nursing Assistant is an excellent field to pursue in a difficult economy because it is listed as one of the fastest growing occupations throughout the United States. The Maine Registry of Certified Nursing Assistants is operated in accordance with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) to: (1) Provide CNA information, (2) Determine the eligibility of applicants for placement in the Registry, (3) Post state-approved CNA training and (4) Provide work opportunities to Maine residents.

Salary Average for Certified Nursing Assistant in Maine

Between $ 20,800 to $ 27,040
$ 11.04 – $ 14 per hour typically (Hourly rate will increase by experience)

Training program criteria in Maine

Maine CNA training programs must consist of at least 150 to 180 hours, in both classroom and clinical settings, effective January 1, 2010. Some state-approved training programs may differ slightly when it comes to the number of hours in classroom and hands-on training sessions. Be sure to check with your training program of choice.

Applying for Reciprocity in Maine

If an approved CNA moves to Maine from their an outside state, they must be in good standing on the registry of that state. They will need to obtain and complete a reciprocity form and submit it and all required documents and fees by mail.
